Designed to be studied alongside GCSE maths and English as required. This course is ideal for learners who want to progress into IT-related apprenticeships, into employment, or progress to a relevant Level 3 field of study. This qualification allows you to study IT in a context that enables you to learn and be assessed in ways that are practical and relevant to the IT sector. It will provide you with the skills, knowledge, and understanding to progress onto employment, either directly or through an Apprenticeship (i.e. IT Users, Software, Web, and Telecoms Professionals) or a Level 3 Tech Level qualification in the IT and computing sector. There is a requirement to study maths and English alongside the qualification if you have not achieved a minimum of Grade 4 Everyone will take the following two externally assessed mandatory units: Unit 1 Essentials of IT Unit 2 Essentials of Cyber Security These units will provide learners with the core knowledge and understanding that underpins all other internally assessed units. Essentials of IT provides them with an overview of the IT sector as they develop their knowledge of hardware, software, installing and upgrading processes, the use of the World Wide Web, and the benefits of using IT in business. Essentials of cyber security reflects the increasing importance of this issue in IT-related activities and enable them to understand possible cyber threats and how these can be managed. As well as the two externally assessed units everyone will undertake the following units below: These units are all assignment-based and will ensure that you gain a rounded experience within the digital area. Unit 4 Creating programming solutions for business. Unit 7 Pitching the product. Unit 8 Emerging Technology. Unit 13 Creating Websites. Unit 14 Creating Mobile Applications. Unit 15 Games Creation.
As a starting point we would be looking for candidates with 5 GCSE’s at grade 3 or above including English and maths.
