It provides students with opportunities to develop personal responses to ideas, observations, experiences, environments, and cultures in practical, critical, and contextual forms. The specification comprises two units at A Level. Students should be introduced to a variety of experiences employing a range of media, processes, and techniques appropriate to the chosen area of study.
The standard entry criteria to study in the sixth form are a 9-4 in at least seven different subjects, including English and mathematics, which would usually be at grade 4 or above. To study other subjects already taken at GCSE you must achieve at least a grade 5 or above in that subject.
The assessments will measure how students have achieved the following assessment objectives: AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding. AO2: Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques, and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops. AO3: Record ideas, observations, and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress. AO4: Present a personal and meaningful response that realizes intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.
