Course summary

This course looks at the three main components of Dance: performance, choreography, and appreciation. Students will have the opportunity to develop these skills in a variety of different ways alongside transferable skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. All of these are sought-after skills in higher education and by employers and will help you stand out in the workplace whatever your choice of career. Modules/Units: - Component 1: Performance and Choreography - Solo performance linked to a specific practitioner within an area of study - Performance in a quartet - Group choreography Component 2: Critical Engagement - Knowledge, understanding, and critical appreciation of a compulsory set of work and its location within a corresponding area of study. - Knowledge, understanding, and critical appreciation of one optional set work and its location within a corresponding area of study.

Grade 5 in GCSE Dance

How you'll be assessed

Component 1: Practical exam, 80 marks, 50% of A Level Component 2: Written exam (2 hours 30 minutes), 50% of A Level Section A: short answer questions (25 marks) plus one essay question (25 marks) Section B: two essay questions (25 marks each)
