Course summary

A- Level Photography focuses on digital based photographic mediums; students learn to use a DSLR camera, develop understanding of post-production and master the art of capturing images in full manual mode. You will learn fundamental skills to enable you to master the core principles of photography, including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, depths of field, composition, studio lighting, Photoshop processing and more. Students will be expected to work independently to develop a theme/concept, create a personal portfolio and specialise in an area of their choice. • Component 1: a sustained project evidencing the journey from initial engagement to the development and realisation of a final piece. • A supporting 1000 word written essay linking to the themes of your practical project. • Component 2: a response to a chosen stimulus, developing a series of investigations in preparation for a final piece.
