A Level Art will allow students the chance to build their understanding of a variety of artistic techniques and styles that encourages them to develop independent curiosity and improve their research and developing skills. What does the course cover? • Opportunities to develop, investigate and respond to the work of others (artists, crafters and designers). • Develop a critical and cultural understanding. • Explore a wide range of techniques and processes. • Reviewing and refining ideas. • Making inciteful observations and reflecting critically on own work. • Producing meaningful and appropriate final outcomes (within set frames).
Level 5 in GCSE Art.
The teachers will assess and mark all units for A Level and the marks are moderated by WJEC/ EDUQAS at the end of the course. This will include a final exhibition. Practical work Set practical work on a set topic and a written personal study approx. 1000-3000 words- 60%. Externally Set Work Preparation time to research and develop ideas, then a 15-hour exam- 40% (Currently due to COVID restraints the external set work has been removed, this may return to the original weighting above in 2022).
