Physics is the branch of science that deals with the structure of matter and how the fundamental constituents of the universe interact. It studies objects ranging from the very small using quantum mechanics to the entire universe using general relativity. Studying Physics A level will open the door to a wide variety of rewarding careers. As well as learning about how the universe works, you’ll get broad training in skills that all employers value– an ability to grasp concepts quickly, a determination to find coherent answers, not to mention problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and IT skills.
5 x GCSEs at A*-C or grades 9-4, including grade 5 English languages, grade 6 mathematics, grade 6/6 combined science or grade 6 physics
To attain an A Level you will be examined on year 1 and year 2 content. Assessment will be covered by three examination papers in the summer of year 13. A Level Practical Endorsement (non-examination) is reported separately as pass/fail. Candidates complete a minimum of 12 practical activities to demonstrate practical competence although as a practical course, you can expect to complete many more.
