This qualification prepares learners who are looking towards a career in animal care. During the course, you will study units that will give you knowledge and experience in areas such as animal biology, animal behaviour, animal welfare and ethics, practical animal husbandry and the principles of exotic care. If you are interested in animal management and working with a variety of animals then this course, consisting of practical and theory sessions, will give you relevant hands-on experience. This course is suitable for individuals who wish to pursue a career in the animal care industry. It will help you find employment or progress to higher education. This is a comprehensive course if you want to increase your knowledge and develop an understanding of animals. This qualification includes the following modules: • Animal biology • Animal welfare • Advanced animal nutrition • Exotic animal health and husbandry • Principles of wildlife populations, ecology and conservation • Farm livestock husbandry • Understand animal health and diseases • Breeding and genetics The course will be based at the Broadway campus for tuition and tutorial and includes a work placement at animal centres including Dudley Zoo, Brockswood Animal Sanctuary, Wild Zoo and Sedgley Adventure Centre.
