This course has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in applying and maintaining nail enhancements, using liquid and powder. You will also learn practical skills in the application of airbrush art designs for nails, the use of electrical files and the application and design of nail art. You will learn underpinning knowledge relating to these technical skills. In addition, you will learn how to promote both products and services to salon clients and gain a sound knowledge of health and safety practice in a salon environment. You will develop client care and communication skills such as how to work with colleagues in a nail or beauty salon. This course includes an additional qualification – Award in Gel Polish Application. The course includes enrichment opportunities (additional to your qualification), to enhance employability skills and meet industry trends. Work experience is a compulsory element of the course and will give you a realistic experience of working in the industry alongside your studies. Units studied include: • Applying and maintaining nail enhancements • Client care and communication in beauty related industries • Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon • Airbrush designs for nails • Enhance nails using electric files • Design and apply nail art • Sell products and services to clients • Contribute to the effective running of the business • Working with colleagues within beauty related industries • Apply LED gel polish
You will need 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and Maths or a successful completion of a L2 Beauty therapy course.
Students will complete workbooks and assignments as well as multiple choice exams. You will gain practical competence in lessons and be observed and assessed by the tutor. You will also produce an online portfolio of evidence.
