If you want a career in engineering, this course will give you an in depth knowledge of the industry and enable you to learn skills in a work-related environment. You will develop your understanding of the theory behind engineering principles, engineering technology and technical information and learn through a combination of practical and classroom-based sessions. This is a two year full-time course - the equivalent of 3 A levels - and, as part of the qualification, you will be required to undertake a work experience placement in a relevant industry setting.
Four or more GCSEs at Grade 4 or above including maths and English, and preferably science. As part of the admissions process you will be required to attend an interview with an admissions tutor and complete an online assessment based on engineering principles .
Throughout the course you will be assessed in the following ways: • Practical observation • Assignment • Externally-marked assessments You will work towards achieving an overall grade for the qualification - pass/merit/distinction - along with individual grades for each unit taken.
