Course summary

Health and Social Care is a fast growing sector for jobs within both the local and national economy in a range of settings such as hospitals, doctors surgeries, private care homes, dental practices and pharmacies. This course will provide you with an in-depth knowlege of the core areas in health and social care and support progression into Higher Education or employment. The qualification you will study for is the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health & Social Care. Units of study: Care Support Needs; Dementia; Science; Human Lifespan; Working in Health & Social Care; Assessing Development; and Safe Practices.

Entry requirements

You need five GCSEs at grade 9-4 preferably for progression in English Language or Maths at grade 4. You will also need DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance for your industry placement.

How you'll be assessed

- Assignments - Case Studies - Class Activities/Discussions - Presentations - Exams (two per year of study) A good work placement report and evidence of 200 hours are mandatory to complete this programme.
