In the first year of A-level study, you will study: Measurements and their errors, particles and radiation, waves, mechanics and energy, and electricity. In the second year of A-level study, you will study Further mechanics and thermal physics, fields, nuclear physics, and one further option from a selection decided by the class teacher (currently medical physics). Possible careers and industries include; engineering, research scientists, medical physicists, communications, nuclear safety, school teaching, and computer-related employment. PHYSICS 6 and a SECOND SCIENCE 6 COMBINED SCIENCE: 66 MATHS: 6 ENGLISH: 6 PREFERENCE OF A-LEVEL MATHS SELECTED ALONGSIDE.
At the end of two years, you will take three 2-hour written papers. A separate endorsement of practical skills will be taken alongside the A-level. This will be assessed by teachers and will be based on observing students’ competency during 12 practicals.
