Course summary

Our PE curriculum intent is to develop knowledge and skills to promote a healthy active lifestyle that encourages lifelong participation. You will study three theoretical areas of Physical Education, these being; Anatomy and Physiology, Psychology, and sociocultural issues. • These units are assessed through examinations in Year 13 and are worth 70% of the final grade • Students must submit a video of themselves performing all of the skills shown in the specification for their chosen sport including footage of them in a competitive game. • Students will also be recorded analyzing a sports performance in depth through a 30-minute (approx.) video. • Both of these elements make up 30% of the final mark.

Entry requirements

Students require a minimum of Grade 4 in either English Language or English Literature and a Grade 4 in Math's. In total five grade 4’s are required.

Physiological factors affecting performance (01) – 90 marks – 2 hour written paper – 30% Psychological factors affecting performance (02) – 60 marks – 1 hour written paper – 20% Socio cultural issue in physical activity and sport (03) – 60 marks – 1 hour written paper – 20% Performance in physical education (04) – 60 marks – Non exam assessment (NEA) – 30%
