This BTEC Sport & Exercise Science course, based at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium, is ideal for school leavers interested in pursuing careers in sport science, strength and conditioning, sports therapy, physiotherapy, nutrition, dietetics, biomechanics and movement analysis. The course is accredited by BASES (British Association for Sport and Exercise), SkillsActive and CIMSPA.
A minimum of five GCSEs including at least Grade 4 in English and Maths. An interest in sport practicals, theory and science is also beneficial to successfully undertake this course.
The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport & Exercise Sciences (Edgbaston) course is assessed by a combination of external exams. Exam-based units include: - Physiology - Psychology - Functional Anatomy - Nutrition The remaining units are internally assessed via reports, practical applications, presentations, video presentations and analysis and a year-long mini dissertation. These units are: - Biomechanics - Sports Injuries and Assessment - Sports Massage - Specialised Fitness - Coaching and Performance - Research Methods - Research Project - Technology in Sports Science - Field and Laboratory-Based Testing Assessment
