The course is aimed at developing a range of skills that will enable you to transition in to one of the two T Level Health pathways or T Level Healthcare Science. This programme will involve industry exposure, relevant technical knowledge and practical skills and will develop your English and Math Skills. The structure of the programme will be: • Resitting either Maths or English GCSE to achieve Grade 5 (3 hours per week). 1 hour per week contextualised into curriculum. • Resitting GCSE Biology to achieve Grade 5 (covering National Technical Outcome 1) NTO’s (National Technical Outcomes) covered: • Application of knowledge and understanding of scientific principles and concepts. • Prepare for health, healthcare science and science activities. • Apply practical skills to perform health and healthcare science activities. • Interpret health and science data.
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including EITHER GCSE Maths OR GCSE English. The GCSE Maths OR GCSE English that is NOT of Grade 4 will be part of the delivery programme to upskill knowledge to achieve GCSE Grade 5 or above. A Science GCSE minimum Grade 3 or above. It is mandatory to re-sit this qualification to upskill to achieve GCSE Grade 5 or above as part of the National Technical Outcomes (NTOs) of the Foundation T Level if Grade 5 is not attained on entry. A successful interview with the course leader; students will be asked a series of questions to determine future career prospects and suitability to complete the Foundation T Level.
The course is assessed through a combination of exams, practical assessments, and a problem-based learning assessment (project). 65 hours of placement and completed placement booklet. GCSE Biology will include Paper 1 and Paper 2 externally assessed by AQA exam board. Over the duration of the course, there will be formative assessment points to assess development.
