This BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering is an advanced, two-year full-time course designed for young people who have an interest in broad engineering disciplines and wish to gain a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3. It is ideal if you want to progress to university, an advanced apprenticeship or employment.
You’ll need five GCSEs, including Maths at Grade 5-6/B, English at Grade 4/C or above and three other relevant subjects at Grade 4/C or above. Experience shows that a high Mathematics grade is an advantage for this course and you will need to discuss this further with your tutor. The course requires a minimum of 30 hours work experience. The college will assist with your placement, but students are encouraged to find their own as part of industrial familiarisation. This qualification provides a route to various engineering degrees and also apprenticeships.
Apart from the three external examinations, all other units are internally assessed by assignment to national standards.
