Physicists try to understand how the Universe works. By better understanding the Universe, they can improve our lives as well as satisfy their curiosity. Students will learn the basic rules governing forces, waves, electricity, magnetism and quantum theory. They will apply these ideas to all aspects of the world as we observe it - from distant galaxies to sub-atomic particles - from moving vehicles to computer chips. Students will develop analytical and problem-solving skills which will enable them to pursue a whole range of further studies or career options. Core Content: • Measurements and their errors • Particles and radiation • Waves • Mechanics and materials • Electricity • Further mechanics and thermal physics • Fields and their consequences • Nuclear physics • Astrophysics
• At least a grade 6 in GCSE Physics and Mathematics and a grade 5 in English. OR • At least grades 6 and 6 (i.e. combined score of 12) in GCSE Trilogy Science, a 6 in GCSE Mathematics and a 5 in English.
