The A Level in Art and Design 3D Design provides students with the opportunity to develop personal responses to product design briefs, documenting their ideas, observations, experiences, environments, and cultures in practical, critical, and contextual forms. 3D work will make use of DT skills, offering the opportunity to work in wood, plastic, textiles and ceramics amongst other materials. Students will go through the design process, carrying out research into designers and artists, drawing and experimenting with materials, before developing personal outcomes.
Students are required to gain at least a level 4 at GCSE in Art and/or 3D Design to complete this course.
2 year A Level: Year 12 work is mainly skills development in preparation for Year 13. • Personal Investigation, supported by a 1000-3000-word essay – 60% • Externally set assignment project, with 15-hour exam – 40%
