The A Level course will give you confidence to speak and write the language fluently, while introducing you to key issues relevant to Spain and the Spanish-speaking world. You will explore literature, film, and traditions, gaining a deeper understanding of the rich cultural heritage of Spain and South America. This course offers you the opportunity to develop your communication and comprehension skills and enhance your employment prospects both locally and globally.
General entry requirements are 5 or more GCSEs graded 4/5 or above including English Language, and ideally, Maths. Grade 6 or above in GCSE Spanish (or equivalent) is ncessary. This requirement ensures that you have a solid basis to excel in the course and maximise your learning experience. Students with a Spanish background can be admitted without a GCSE in Spanish, subject to a language test.
The A Level Spanish examination (AQA) consists of three components: Listening, Reading and Translation (2 hours 30 minutes) Writing – Essays on Literature and Film (2 hours) Speaking – a topic card and an individual research project (21-23 minutes)
