If you love taking photos and using them to visually communicate, then this is the course for you. Photography A Level encourages you to develop your creative confidence through taking and editing photographs. Units include: • documentary photography • studio photography • computer image manipulation • black and white and colour film • history of photography • critical analysis • photography as an art form and social document • traditional darkroom wet photography • use of industry standard digital studio equipment and digital processes Documenting the world around you by using your A Level studies to develop your skills in a variety of different photographic applications, you will develop technical skills and understanding that can be applied to both current and emerging photographic technology. You will be effectively using both 35mm darkroom black and white wet photography and fully manual digital SLR application with your own camera.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language and an art and design based subject preferred.
All work is assessed and standardised internally, including the end of course practical examination project, before it is finally moderated by a senior examiner representing the examination board. In this way, rigorous, consistent and fair marking is assured for all students.
