This qualification includes the following modules: • Introduction to Bookkeeping • Principles of Bookkeeping Controls • Principles of Costing • The Business Environment. (Synoptic) This qualification prepares learners who are looking towards a career in accounting. A student completing this qualification will develop accountancy skills in double-entry bookkeeping and basic costing, as well as an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers. Students will learn an understanding of accounting software and develop the professional skills and behaviours needed to contribute effectively in the workplace. Working in accountancy requires good communication skills, IT skills and an understanding of the business environment.
For entry onto this qualification learners will need to have a level one qualification in Book-keeping or have recent work experience in an accounting environment. On enrolment you will also be asked to do initial assessments of your literacy and numeracy skills and should be at least at level one in both of these. If you do not meet the entry requirements above you may wish to join the City and Guilds level 1 Book-keeping course.
The assessments for this qualification are computer based assessments of each unit with a synoptic assessment at the end of the year.
