Studying a creative A level is both challenging and hugely rewarding. Whether choosing to study A-level Fine Art with the intention of progressing to an art and design degree course and a career in the creative industries or choosing to study the subject to broaden their A-level programme, students will find that studying a creative A level subject will develop a range of subject-specific and widely sort after transferable skills. There are over 300 creative subjects available to study at degree level and following a creative pathway at sixth form can lead to a range of diverse career opportunities. Every year students from our Creative Arts department at Pendleton Sixth Form apply for and gain high-quality places on some of the best creative degree courses in the world at Universities such as Glasgow School of Art, Central St Martins, London College of Fashion, Ravensbourne, Manchester Metropolitan University and Leeds College of Art.
Students will need a minimum of three grade 4s and three grade 5s at GCSE including a grade 5 in GCSE English and preferably a GCSE (or equivalent) in a creative subject. For applicants without a previous qualification in art and design, they would need to demonstrate a keen interest in the subject through a creative portfolio. Additional Information: We will consider 1 Vocational qualification in place of a GCSE as long as a grade 5 is achieved in English.
All work is externally moderated to ensure fairness of assessment and that national standards are maintained.
