The emphasis of this course is on speaking and listening skills at a very high level, using as much authentic source material as possible (French television/newspapers/French speakers). Grammatical accuracy will become paramount and written work will be analytical as well as descriptive. The cultures of French speaking countries will also be explored. We aim to tie the A Level syllabus as closely as possible to the world of work and the world in general. The A level cover topics such as: - Aspects of French-speaking society - the changing role of the family. - Artistic culture in the French-speaking world. - Aspects of political life in the French-speaking world. - French literature and film.
At least five GCSEs at grade 5 or above in a good range of subjects, including both English and Mathematics. Additional entry requirements for this course are: A grade 6 in GCSE French and GCSE English (Language or Literature).
