Course summary

Almost on a daily basis, you are bombarded with biological phenomena. It has never been more important that you are aware of biological principles, so that you can make sense of the news and understand how scientists interact with each other and the world and society around them. This biology course will prepare students for further study of biology in higher education and you will become better-informed citizens of the 21st century.

Entry requirements

It is recommended that students achieve a Grade 6 or above in Biology or Combined Science: Trilogy as well as a Grade 6 and above in GCSE Maths and English.

How you'll be assessed

External examinations will be completed at the end of Upper VI. There are three papers: Paper 1 - Biological Processes (modules 1, 2, 3 and 5) 2 hours and 15 minutes and 37% of A- level Paper 2 - Biological Diversity (modules 1, 2, 4 and 6) 2 hours and 15 minutes and 37% of A-level Paper 3 - Unified Biology (all modules) 1 hour and 30 minutes and 26% of A-level
