On this exciting study programme in the very popular digital sector, you can study areas such as computer systems, networking, programming, games design, system security, website design and technology, and animation. The Level 3 elements comprise of technical computer fundamentals, Python, HTML, Basic Java scripting and security in the technology industry. The Extended Diploma is a two-year course. The first year is equivalent to one A Level (Foundation Diploma) and successful completion of the first year will allow progression to Year 2 to complete a total of three A Level equivalents, graded from Pass to Distinction*. The qualification enables learners to explore a choice of sector areas, enabling progression to either higher education or employment in the computing sector (depending on previous experience and final grade). On successful completion of this course you will be able to consider a wide range of employment opportunities in many areas such as communications, administration, software and hardware development, commerce, software engineering, user support and networking which could be part of an Apprenticeship programme if you wish to continue to learn while you earn.
Five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above in suitable areas including Maths and English; or a Merit in a Level 2 course plus GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or above.
