An Extended Project Qualification gives students the freedom to study the topics that they’re interested in depth, but also be able to demonstrate and quantify skills such as organisation, evaluating and independence in a academic way. The skills they develop can enhance performance in other subjects, whilst also developing the core skills needed for independent learning. These skills are transferable and support successful progression to university and into careers. Students can choose their topic and develop it independently, with the support and guidance of a supervisor. Project qualifications fit flexibly into the school and home learning curriculum and can be alongside A Levels. Students will have 2 periods of contact time a week with the EPQ supervisor who will be supporting and facilitating the project, and its progression through the course. Support is also available through the use of Microsoft TEAMS with resources, support materials, exemplars, and 1-2-1 tutorials. Students will also have ‘taught’ lessons which require skills such as referencing, essay construction, and evaluating sources.
To complete the course, students will: - Choose an area of interest. - Draft a title and aims of the project for formal approval by the center. - Plan, research and carry out the project. - Deliver a presentation to a non-specialist audience. - Provide evidence of all stages of project development and production for assessment in the form of a Production Log.
