Geography is concerned with the study of patterns in the human and physical environment, as well as the processes that shape and change them. You will develop a range of skills, including photograph interpretation, data analysis, essay writing and map reading. You will be able to take advantage of the GIS (Geographical Information Systems) which involves extensive use of technology, such as iPads and computers in our Active Learning Zones. You will also become acquainted with the use of maps, field work equipment, workbooks, Google Maps and documentaries to aid your studies. A requirement of both the AS and A2 course is to complete a field study.
At least six GCSEs at grade 5 or above in a good range of subjects, including both English and Mathematics. Additional entry requirements for this course are: A grade 6 in GCSE Geography.
This course is assessed in the following way: 20% coursework 80% external examination.
