Philosophy is a challenging subject which requires students to learn and then critically examine the theories and arguments of a range of European philosophers such as René Descartes, David Hume and John Locke. Key topics studied: Epistemology (the study of knowledge), Metaphysics of God, Moral Philosophy and Metaphysics of Mind. Past students have gained places on a range of prestigious degree courses at both Oxford and Cambridge including: Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE); Mathematics and Philosophy; Languages and Classics.
- Grade 5 in English Language, and Grade 4 in Maths - All students need to have at least five GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (and a satisfactory school reference) in order to be accepted on an A Level/BTEC Level 3 Programme
Philosophy is assessed 100% by examination.
