A progression route for Level 2 Beauty Therapists wanting to gain employment within the beauty industry. This course is aimed at learners wishing to further their existing beauty skills in advanced techniques. Not only will you develop existing skills but you will also train in the more specialist areas such as electrotherapy and microdermabrasion. You will be expected to attend College for two/three days a week and will be required to work to high professional standards. You will train in one of our industry-standard salons, work in a realistic environment, and use the latest equipment, machinery, and products within the industry. You will get to develop your work-based skills, recognizing the importance of professional practice. During the course, you will learn various advanced techniques and skills which are used by beauty therapists. You will gain confidence and understanding of these techniques so you are prepared for work. Areas of study include Body Massage, Hot Stones Massage, Facial Electrotherapy, Body Electrotherapy, Indian Head Massage, Electrolysis, and Microdermabrasion. In addition to all of the practical aspects of the course, you will learn salon practice, promotional activity, health and safety, and anatomy & physiology for beauty therapists. Our tutors are industry professionals and they will demonstrate the practical techniques as well as best practices so that you can be sure that you are equipped with the skills and know-how to perform these services independently. When you are confident enough and have practiced the techniques to a level 3 standard, you will be able to provide services to paying customers.
You will need a Level 2 beauty qualification and a real interest in the beauty industry. You should be enthusiastic to learn a variety of advanced practical skills and the associated knowledge, which will develop your employment opportunities within the beauty therapy industry. As with all therapy professions, you will need to create the right impression with your clients and must therefore be professional, courteous, and discreet. Excellent communication skills are essential. This is an intensive, knowledge-based course and we do look for enthusiasm and motivation to succeed on the course.
The theory is delivered for each unit and in-house exams are set, however, emphasis is placed on practical learning. Paying clients is to be used for practical assessment. Alongside the theory, you will produce a portfolio of your work which will be verified and should include assessment books, projects, and theoretical work
