For those interested in a basic introduction to the study of IT with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses or employment, not necessarily in IT. Units include: • communication and employability • information technology systems • creating systems to manage information • using social media in business • website development • e-commerce • digital graphics • website production • installing software and hardware • computer maintenance. There is a range of course-related opportunities, including visits to local universities, along with professionally led workshop sessions delivered through the curriculum by local IT-based organisations and visits from guest speakers.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language.
Assessments will comprise 60% personal investigation and 40% externally set practical exam. Your coursework is internally assessed and externally moderated.
