Course summary

For those who prefer a combination of coursework and exams rather than purely written examinations at the end of two years of study, the course explores the foundation units of law including criminal, tort and contract law. Units include: • the English legal system • criminal law • tort law • contract law • legal analysis and presentation You will develop skills in research, communication and legal analysis as well as developing your essay and report-writing skills and your ability to apply the law to different scenarios. There are opportunities for students to visit the Crown Court and the Magistrates’ Courts as well as Parliament and the Supreme Court. We will attend law workshops at universities too which is a great way to see if that path is for you.

Entry requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language.

How you'll be assessed

Assessments will comprise 60% personal investigation and 40% externally set practical exam. Your coursework is internally assessed and externally moderated.
