For those interested in a career in digital media production, who are keen writers and have a strong interest in social media. Units include: • journalism processes • producing your own print-based or audio-visual product • media products and audiences • pre-production and planning • social media and globalisation • journalism and the news industry. You will begin by learning how media institutions operate to create media products that will appeal to target audiences. You will also study journalism processes and get creative in producing your own print-based or audio-visual product. There are a range of specific course options, which will include trips to major gaming industry events with a chance to test some newly released games. There will also be visits to both the University of Portsmouth and Southampton Solent University, alongside professionally led workshops sessions delivered through the course curriculum as well as possible trips to EGX and REZZED gaming expos.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language.
Assessments will comprise 60% personal investigation and 40% externally set practical exam. Your coursework is internally assessed and externally moderated.
