Course summary

The course is divided into pure maths, statistics and mechanics. Pure maths consists of more advanced techniques in algebra and trigonometry although you will recognise some of this from GCSE. Many of these techniques and methods from pure maths will then be used to explore the mechanics and statistics modules. In the statistics module you will look at statistical sampling, data presentation and probability leading to the study of statistical distributions. You will study how data can be used to prove or disprove a hypothesis and how this can be applied to real life such as trialling new ground-breaking medical advances. In mechanics you will look at the study of the physical world, modelling the motion of objects and the forces acting on them.
