Applied science is a course that prepares students for working in industry. You will have the opportunity to study the art of being a scientist in a vocational context and be given the skills to work in a science laboratory. The course is broken up into four units covering the key applications of science, including practical techniques and scientific investigative skills. There is also a range of optional units available to study in Year 13.
• Mathematics - Grade 4 • English Language - Grade 4 • Two Science subjects - Grade 5
You will be taught a series of lessons that enable you to develop the scientific understanding and skills to perform in the relevant assessments. Due to changes from Ofqual, 58% of the assessment for Applied Science will be externally assessed. There will be one standard examination and one practical activity assessed by the examination board (Pearson).
