A-level Chemistry will give you an exciting insight into the contemporary world of chemistry. It covers the key concepts of chemistry and practical skills are integrated throughout the course. This combination of academic challenge and practical focus makes the prospect of studying A-level chemistry highly appealing. You will gain specific knowledge in the traditional fields of Chemistry, including organic, inorganic, physical and analytical Chemistry. In the first year you will study modules 1-4 for AS level Chemistry. These are Development of Practical Skills, Foundation Chemistry, Periodic Table and Energy and Core Organic Chemistry. There are two written papers (50% each). In the second year you will study modules 5-6 for A-level Chemistry. These are Physical Chemistry and Transition Elements and Organic Chemistry and Analysis.

There are three written exams (37%, 37% and 26%) and a practical endorsement (pass or fail). You will be taught by very experienced teachers who are all friendly and approachable. We treat all students as independent individuals and care passionately about their achievements. Staff have continuously developed in-house learning resources to reinforce learning and to help prepare students for rigorous, regular assessments.
