What is a T Level? A T Level qualification is a composite technical study program, aimed at preparing young people for work, higher-level Apprenticeships or Higher Education (HE). About the T Level, The T Level in Education & Childcare has 2 components: • Core component • Occupational specialism components - Early Years Educator or Assisting Teaching The core component provides a high-level foundation of knowledge and skills that are relevant to occupational specialisms. The core component is not biased towards any particular occupational specialism component. This is to ensure fairness for all students and to support learning in their chosen occupational specialism component. Some of the core topics and ideas are then broken down and contextualized in more detail in the occupational specialisms, allowing the student to apply the knowledge and skills in their specific specialism. Each occupational specialism component covers the knowledge, understanding, skills, and behaviors required to achieve competence in a chosen occupational specialism. The objectives of this qualification are to equip students with the core knowledge and core skills relevant to Education and Childcare, up-to-date occupational knowledge and skills, the necessary English, mathematics, and digital skills, and competence that meets employer expectations and opportunities to manage and improve their performance. Industry placements are intended to provide students with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviors required for skilled employment in their chosen occupation and which are less easily attainable by completing a qualification alone.
