Drama and Theatre Studies
Course summary
This exciting course aims to develop your understanding and appreciation of Theatre and Drama, which can be used as powerful tools to life, people, art, history, politics, language, society - the list is endless. Students will analyse and evaluate performances, perform from dramatic texts and devise their own moving, powerful and important work in order to gain a varied understanding of dramatic forms and styles. Whilst the emphasis is very much on practical work, the whole course is supported by reflective work and a depth of rigorous academic understanding. Frequent visits to the theatre and seminar discussions will also enable to students to appreciate and understand the ways in which theatre works to empower, challenge and reform and attempts to make sense of the world around them.
