This course will develop you not only as a performer but also in the areas of interpretation, analysis and a broad range of literature across contrasting time periods and styles. You will benefit from both individual work and explorative group sessions where you will learn the importance of ensemble work along with self-evaluation and development. This course and exam board will develop you excellently for university, stage school or work within the industry and will also develop your interpersonal skills to enable you to apply your knowledge and experience to any situation or course you choose to follow. Along-side subject specific skills you will develop a strong awareness of yourself in a range of situations and you will be able to work with confidence and strong knowledge base. You will gain knowledge and understanding of drama and theatre and you will study a choice of two set plays. You will work on the analysis and evaluation of the work of live theatre makers and use this and practical exploration to learn to process of creating devised drama. You will take part in a Performance of a devised piece which will be influenced by the work and methodologies of a prescribed theatre practitioner. You will also learn reflective report analysing and evaluating and will work on a minimum or three contrasting plays exploring a range of techniques.
Both internal and external pupils wishing to enter the sixth form will be expected to have met the same minimum academic entry requirements for the sixth form. This is a minimum of 3 GCSE grade 4s and grade 4 in English AND Maths. This course additionally requires grade 5 in English Language, and grade 6 in Drama (grade 5s considered). 40% written exam and a 60% coursework component which will consist of performance and portfolio evidence.
