Course summary
The A Level Physical Education qualifications allows students to play to their physical strengths and gain dynamic theoretical knowledge for further education or a career in the sporting industry. The course has been designed to challenge and support students as well as giving them an insight into different areas of physical education such as applied anatomy and physiology, skill acquisition and sport in society. The course is split into a practical element that is 30% of your overall marks and the theory that makes up 70%. Practically you need to demonstrate skill and competitive involvement in a sporting activity. For the theory you will sit 2 x 2 hour exam papers covering a range of different topics which include: Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Skill Acquisition, Sports Psychology, Biomechanics, Sport and Society and Technology in Sport.
