The opportunities for students of Physics, on completion of full-time education are vast. There are many possible careers within the scientific world and qualifications in Science subjects are acceptable as an entry into many other careers. Former students have progressed to follow many career paths; Medicine, Forensic Science, Physiotherapy, Medical Science, Engineering, including apprenticeships at JCB, Rolls Royce, UTC Aerospace, and Jaguar Land Rover. The Science courses offered at Walsall Academy are designed to provide academic and vocational experiences. They will prepare students for their choice of career in both the world of work and Higher Education. In 2015 and 2017 we organised a trip to CERN in Geneva to see the Large Hadron Collider. We have many visiting speakers including ex-students advising on apprenticeship opportunities in Engineering. UCAT preparation sessions are organised for those interested in Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Sciences. University led careers workshops are provided each year. Session 3 exam preparation is offered for all students. Career focussed work placements are available on a regular basis or in a two-week block.
- 4 GCSEs (Grades 9 - 4) including English and Mathematics at a minimum of grade 5 - Grade 6-6 in GCSE Combined Science or Grade 6 GCSE Physics - Grade 5 in GCSE Mathematics (Higher Tier) and Grade 5 in GCSE English
The practical qualification is either a pass or fail based upon 12 in class assessments and will be provided separate to the overall exam grade.
