The opportunities for students of Psychology, when they have completed a degree programme, are enormous and a wide range of career choices are available. The Psychology A level course enables students to acquire a basis for further study and employment. It aims to encourage an experimental approach to Psychology linked to theoretical developments and to give an understanding of the methodologies of Science. Students are expected to develop the ability to collect, present and interpret experimental and empirical data. The course promotes an appreciation of the way in which Psychology may be applied to solve problems. The Psychology department has strong links with the University of Birmingham. Students have the opportunity to participate in postgraduate experiments applying their knowledge to real life investigations. Students are given the chance to register and attend conferences, universities, seminars and other activities that will enrich their understanding of the topics they are studying and improve the quality of their essay writing. We have had a number of guest speakers come into school to talk about specific psychological issues over the years. We continue to maintain opportunities for students to work alongside practising psychologists from the University of Birmingham and Wolverhampton.
