The course encourages wide and independent reading of both set texts and others that you have selected for yourself. You will engage critically and creatively with texts and explore ways of responding to them, developing your knowledge of literary analysis and evaluation. You will also explore the contexts of the texts you are reading and others’ interpretations of them, as well as undertaking independent studies to deepen your appreciation and understanding of English Literature, including its changing traditions. This A level would lead directly into subject related university courses and careers, and indirectly into a wide range of higher education courses and career choices.
