Course summary
A level Mathematics will be a continuation of GCSE Mathematics where students are required to apply more problem solving techniques in using their mathematical skills and techniques to make logical and reasoned decisions in a variety of contexts whilst being able to communicate their mathematical rationale. Pure Mathematics 1 - Students start with a recap of GCSE algebra before moving onto new elements of calculus, exponentials and logarithms, as well as extending their knowledge of proofs, coordinate geometry, vectors and graph drawing. Pure Mathematics 2 - Students will extend their knowledge in calculus, trigonometry, coordinate geometry, sequences and series and numerical methods.
