This is a comprehensive course if you wish to follow a career in work with children and/or progress onto teacher training. It provides a specialist work-related programme of study, equivalent to three A-levels and on successful completion of the course, you will achieve Early Years Educator status and have completed 750 hours of work experience. This thoroughly equips you for a range of careers/higher education degrees including primary teaching, work as a nanny, early years educators within nursery settings, teaching assistants, work with children with special educational needs, children's nursing and a variety of other careers working within the early years sector. This Level 3 qualification provides you with assistant practitioner status' once a pass grade has been achieved. This allows you to undertake supervised work within an early year's environment (0-8 years). It will give you the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to prepare you for employment. Further Study: Progression to the FdA Early Years at WCG or university.
You will need five GCSEs at grade C/4 including English Language (or L2 FS English) or a Merit at Level 2. You will have a positive school or college reference with good levels of attendance and punctuality.
A variety of methods are used to assess your progress. These include external examination, observations of your practical work, individual and group presentations, case studies, assignments, projects, work based assignments, developing learning resources, and display work. You will also be assessed in the work place. You are required to complete a minimum of 180 hours' work placement experience.
