Course summary

This course explores Biology as the science of life and focuses on key topics, including animal and plant physiology, cell biology, genetics, biotechnology, and genetic engineering. The course aims to: stimulate interest in Biological Sciences, promote an awareness of the key issues relating to environmental and human biology, develop the ability to research topics, and then communicate arguments clearly and logically. The course is delivered in an interesting, straightforward, and practical manner to ensure that students are rewarded for the biology skills and knowledge they have developed. Students will complete accessible assessments with various abilities to shine and a choice of two essay questions, giving students more opportunities to bring together knowledge of the whole specification.

Entry requirements

All students must achieve at least five grades 5-9 (including Maths and English). Students are expected to have gained at least a Grade 6 in GCSE Biology, GCSE Combined Science and GCSE Maths.
