All students take four core units: ● Building positive relationships in Health and Social Care ● Equality, diversity, and rights in Health and Social Care ● Health, safety, and security in Health and Social Care ● Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care You will also take two optional units such as: ● Nutrition for health ● Sexual health, reproduction, and early development This course really focuses on the vocational aspects of Health & Social Care so you will find a lot of teaching is based in work experience/placement visits or case studies/role plays. There will also be group discussions, case study work, presentations, guest speakers, creation of resources, individual research, role play, and so on. You will also have the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement where you will be able to apply some of the knowledge gained in lessons and develop your skills. Throughout the course, you will develop various skills including research, ICT, analytical, problem-solving, developing your own learning, and presentation skills, and learning to work independently as well as in groups, which will develop your communication skills. This course will provide you with up-to-date and relevant insight into the world of Health and Social Care and will prepare you well for a career in the field and undertake work experience.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 – 9, or equivalent, including a 4 in English Language and a 3 in Science. An interest in Health and Social Care would be advantageous.
Students will be assessed by a mixture of assignments and written exams. Three units will be assessed by external examination. The remaining units will be assessed by internal coursework assignments.
