Course summary

Computer Science is the study of computers, the most important technological advance of our age. You will learn the fundamentals of how computers store, process, and display data. You will also learn to code your applications and have a chance to develop your piece of software. The course is best suited to those interested in engineering, logic, and creativity. At the end of the course, you’ll have a deep understanding of technology and the code skills to enter the world of work or further study. There has never been a more exciting time to study Computer Science, and successful graduates have never been in higher demand. Students completing the A Level in Computing go on to pursue a range of careers including Software Engineering, Health Informatics, Security, Video Games, Artificial Intelligence and Medicine, and Ethical Hacking. It also equips you with problem-solving skills that can be applied to any career.

Entry requirements

All students must achieve at least five grades 5-9 (including Maths and English). Students are expected to have achieved the standard requirements for A level, as well as having done GCSE Computer Science before and gaining a minimum grade 5 plus a Grade 6 in Maths.
