If you’re passionate about Dance and enjoy expressing yourself through creative and imaginative choreography, then A Level Dance at OSFC is for you. You’ll have the opportunity to perform regularly in lessons and college shows, produce your own choreographies and learn to work together with other performers. You’ll also improve your knowledge and understanding of contemporary and jazz dance by studying the work of professional companies and choreographers. Previous experience in dance training is desirable but not essential. Component 1: Performance & Choreography You will choreograph in response to questions set by AQA. You will also perform a solo in the style of a chosen practitioner and a quartet in a contemporary style. Component 2: Critical Engagement You will critically examine two key areas of study – Rambert Dance Company 1966-2002 and American Jazz Dance 1940-1975 - concentrating on the work of Christopher Bruce, Richard Alston, Jerome Robbins, Bob Fosse and Gene Kelly.
