Topics are introduced in class and developed using practical activities. In depth study and analysis will be required independently to ensure a detailed understanding and depth of knowledge. Animations, videos, journals and external lectures all help to keep the information topic relevant and up to date. Students of A Level Biology should expect to complete an hour of extended study for every lesson they have as well as completing homework and revision tasks. On top of this they should be studying for an extra two hours a fortnight minimum.
- Students should have obtained 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 or above and must have two grade 6 or above in Trilogy Science or a grade 6 in Biology Separate Science. They must also have a grade 6 in Mathematics - Individual subject minimum GCSE requirements (these apply in addition to our Sixth Form entry criteria of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and Maths*)
In A Level Biology you will complete 3 written papers of 2 hours each: • At least 15% will examine practical skills • At least 10% will examine mathematical concepts
