Student work will be assessed at regular intervals throughout the year with regular verbal and written feedback. Final grades are achieved through the marking and moderation of work by staff which are then verified via the exam board. Course unit outline: Students will begin with a skills building unit which will aim to push them outside of their comfort zones and aid in the jump up to A Level studies. From this students will complete 2 coursework units and 1 exam unit during the 2 years of study. The better coursework unit will then be put forward for marking and be accompanied by an essay to support it. This will then be submitted in May along with the exam unit. The personal investigation and essay form 60% of the final grade with the remaining 40% gained from the exam unit. The choice of starting point will be the student's topic of interest— to be discussed and decided on, in consultation with the class teacher.
