During this 2-year course, students will engage in a creative and thought-provoking course using a range of textile media to create a range of practical outcomes. During this time, you will develop a set of visual and personal annotated responses to your chosen themes, you will receive weekly individual tutorials to discuss the direction of your work. Your work will be presented in an A3 sketchbook as well as A2 presentation boards and will be a combination of your own imagery, observational studies, and contextual studies of existing artists/designers' work in order to inspire your own work. Your contextual evidence base will take the form of annotated entries in your portfolio as your work develops, you will review, critique, and evaluate all outcomes in every page of your folder work as well as produce a 1000+ word contextual study in relation to this work. You will analyze and interpret the work of artists, fashion designers, costume designers, and or craftspersons, from Western and non-Western cultures. You will learn how to understand and make stimulating visual responses to the work of others in the form of personal visual outcomes or fashion/costume designs.
Achieve at least five grade 5-9 (including Maths and English). Students are expected to have gained a grade 5 in Art and Design Textiles, Fine Art, Photography or Design Technology.
